Aussie Troopy: 1981 Toyota Land Cruiser HJ47 Diesel Troopy

Toyota Land Cruiser HJ-47It is right hand drive so if that turns you off, stop here. Ever wonder why the Brits drive on the wrong side? “In the olden days logic dictated that when people passed each other on the road they should be in the best possible position to use their sword to protect themselves. As most people are right handed they therefore keep to their left. This practice was formalised in a Papal Edict by Pope Benefice around 1300AD who told all his pilgrims to keep to the left”, so says Wikipedia. Followers of the Papal edict read on!Toyota Land Cruiser HJ-47 Troopy We had a Land Cruiser FJ-40 on a few days ago but this one is too interesting to pass up. It is a long wheelbase, diesel powered emigre form Australia. How cool is that! “Where did you find your cool car mister?” “Oh, I found it while exploring the Outback young interested person.” It is kitted very nicely with a full size roof rack and a decent looking winch up front. The Troopy has some domestic history with its implied importer being Arizona 4X4. I would check into that. 156044-29-largeThese trucks are hideously strong and reliable and the diesel engine just adds torque when you need it. So maybe, with Armageddon approaching, this could be a back-up vehicle when your 911S just can’t ford that river. See it here in Delaware. $24,900.

I have one for sale. A genuine right hand drive Australian troopy, with a great 3.9 litre HJ 47 Deisel motor that starts when you want it to, not 10 minutes after you want it to. I have had it since 1998 and driven carefully rarely going over 80 kpm (50 mph). It currently has seating for 5 and will go anywhere you want it to and even some places you don’t want it to althoughh the sterring and front end has been completely rebuilt so it steers a lot better than the average Troopy of this age. It lives in Candelo, NSW, Australia. Any offers? ph 0459024031.
