Ferry’s Fuelie: ’73 Porsche 911T CIS
If you visit the site or receive our emails, you do not need us to tell you anything about Porsche 911s. So let’s cut to the chase. In our humble opinion, 1973 was the last year for what we refer to as an early 911. So why isn’t a 1974 an early 911? It’s old too. We can’t answer that but we’ll try. The 1974 Porsche 911 had those new federal bumpers and an increasingly emission-strangled, 2.7 magnesium-cased engine that wasn’t as loved as the motors that came before. So maybe the early 911 is the purest form and 1973 was the end of that run. So there. We are going from memory here but it wasn’t until mid-year in 1973 that we were able to get the mechanical fuel-injection system known as CIS (Continuos Injection System). We had a 911 T Targa of this vintage with CIS and it was just about the perfect car. This Coupe version in Silver is quite remarkable in that it has accumulated few miles in its existance. It has had knowledgable previous owners and the care is evident throughout. We wouldn’t touch a thing although we would check to make sure the chain tensioners were updated. Its expensive at $49,500 but we are confident the market will catch up while you are enjoying the heck out of it. See it here on Craigslist
