Gino says it’s OK: ’68 Jaguar XK E-Type 44,576 Miles
We know the E-Type is perhaps the most beautiful sports car ever made. Probably because Enzo Ferrari said so when it was first introduced to the public in March, 1961. If you prefer the much coveted early Series I cars, you have to put up with some primitive bits– namely the Moss gearbox. Later cars were more civilized and had better cooling and electrics while preserving the original look of the E-Type. And that is what we found this morning on eBay. Today was to be a tribute to NASCAR-Day but how could we not be first with this one! Here goes the original car mantra you heard so many times before – it’s only original once. This is a long-term stored Opalescent Silver Grey Series 1 1/2 Roadster. Well, it has new seats and carpets but it has never been apart and wears original paint. Sure, it has some scars from life but we kind of like it that way. It has a human quality about it. Most E-Types of this vintage have had more work than Joan Rivers. And Gino, the seller’s mechanic, says it runs great! After sitting for 30 years, that’s an accomplishment. Gino says the new owner will have to go through everything else and that can get expensive. But what a way to start! See it here on eBay with 9 days to go.
