Good Ole Virgil: ’56 Chrysler New Yorker Town & Country Wagon
You know by now how much we love station wagons. And no one does it better than Chrysler. This is a 1956 Chrysler New Yorker Town and Country Station Wagon. You just don’t see one of these every day. In 1956, Chrysler christened this model year “PowerStyle” and it was one of the design works of Virgil Exner. The New Yorker gained a new mesh grille, leather seats, pushbutton PowerFlite selector, and a V8 with 280 hp (210 kW). Here’s a kicker, the Town and Country Wagon model was Chrysler’s most expensive vehicle of 1956 at $4,523. This is a very solid well kept vehicle that is rare to see in this condition.
The car comes with A/C, power steering and power brakes and a 354 V-8 Hemi. It’s great in black and white plus roof rack and the interior is remarkable. We just love the period details. You got to hand it to ole Virgil. See more photos on the eBay auction by clicking here.
The 1956 Chrysler New Yorker and Town and Country station wagons are the best looking cars I’ve ever seen. Perhaps its best looking feature is its grille on the front.
Hello,
is this car still for sale?
Gosh, that was a while ago…I don’t think it is available any longer. We look for classic Chrysler wagons all of the time. So I would recommend you stop in frequently. Thanks for writing.
