Over the top: ’68 Ford XL GT 428
You probably think the title refers to the fact that this survivor is a convertible. Alas, grasshopper, that is not the reason. We think this is the same seller that listed the Plum Mist ’67 Pontiac Safari Wagon a few weeks ago. The seller writes the most insanely repetitive listings. You think he may have worked for an advertising agency that believed if you beat something to death the prospect will capitulate just to end the pain. But we have to admit, they find some really neat cars. The theme for this is listing is Original and it applies to everything including 1966 air in the tires. But you have to hand it to them, they have their facts down. Almost every part is date-coded correctly and the photos, both from day of delivery to present day, make a compelling story. The car is rare. You don’t see these big XLs with a 428 and a 4-speed, plus it has A/C that works. So we are all in on this one. Here is just a slice of the eBay listing:

The 428 engine was the Highest Horsepower engine available in the 1968 Ford Full Size vehicle in 1968 at 345.
