Silver Cloud: ’63 Buick Riviera
We are huge fans of the first generation Buick Riviera. This isn’t the first one we have featured but it might be the best. When it was introduced, the design was applauded by everyone and sold well. Even Motor Trend bestowed the prestigious Car of the Year Award to the big Riv. But the most important accolades came from Sergio Pininfarina and Enzo Ferrari. They both thought it was the most beautiful American car ever. Now that’s what I call confirmation that the design was right on. GM’s Bill Mitchell headed up the team that designed it and he is rather modest about his contribution. He said, “I just put the crease in the trousers.” Today’s offering came from one of our favorite sellers who manages to find some great cars all the time. This Riviera is a very original car that has been restored cosmetically. The paint and interior were redone to the original color and interior materials. The engine is a matching numbers 401/325 hp Wildcat that still runs strong. Of course, the car is free of rust and accident damage. That’s good to hear! We love the Silver Cloud Metallic with Silver leather interior. The design of the interior is really wonderful and we like the 4-place seating arrangement. These were meant to be personal luxury cars so why not restrict the seating to 4. We’ve got nothing to complain about. Valuations of these cars have been pretty stable. Upon personal inspection, we would hope that this car would be a solid #2 car. Hagerty data states that it should sell around $34,000 if it is. This Riviera is being offered for $32,500 so it is right in the ballpark. Contact the seller by visiting the eBay listing here.
