Balanced: ’86 Porsche 944 Turbo
Put two words together – Porsche and Turbo and you are bound to have loads of fun. It doesn’t only apply to the storied 930 but to the very well balanced 944 Coupe. We are fans of Porsche’s front engined, water-cooled cars. When the 928 finally hit its stride, it was one super, luxo GT car. The 924 never really made it for us but the 944 came much closer. The Turbo version sealed the deal. That came in 1985 when Porsche introduced the 944 Turbo, a higher-performance variant, known internally as the 951. The 944 Turbo had a turbocharged & intercooled version of the standard car’s engine that produced a solid 220 bhp at 6000 rpm. The Turbo also featured several other revisions, such as improved aerodynamics, a strengthened gearbox, wider wheels and uprated suspension. Over 30 major engine revisions were made to the 951 engine to compensate for increased internal loads and heat. These aren’t rare cars but they are rare in great condition. So when a nice one comes across the screen, we want you to know. So here it comes – a Guards Red, 75,000 mile car with everything working including the A/C. It has metallic brake pads, custom wheels and a nice stereo. It is said by the seller to be adult owned. Hopefully that means it is well cared for with no deferred maintenance issues. Like all good cars, this one isn’t cheap but it is when compared to other cars worth $11,500. After all, this is a German-built Porsche with a Turbo. Contact the seller by clicking here.
