SOLD! Break-in miles only: ’68 Mercedes-Benz 280
Okay, so a ’68 M-B 280 Sedan shouldn’t be such a big deal to rate being featured on Mint. We read further and discovered this 280, a Palm Beach resident, has 18,000 miles on the odometer. That makes this a pretty cool car to consider. Yes, we know that cars that sit can have their own set of problems just like sedentary humans. Seals dry out and cause major leaks and rubber suspension parts might fall victim to the same fate. But how can you resist a car of this build-quality that is virtually a new car? The interior is just spectacular and in a great color. The exterior is in an elegant but stealth-like beige color. The wheels are unusual but for some reason they look like M-B factory wheels. These cars are suburb cruising cars and once you get it sorted it could be an elegant daily driver – and you won’t see yourself coming and going. No matter what you wind up paying for this beauty, budget a few thousand to get it back in shape and it will be well worth the effort. Bid by clicking here.
Pretty sure those are aftermarket wheels similar to “Centra” wheels that have had after-aftermarket paint applied. I would say they have no business being on a purported 18k mile car. The interior upholstery is “Cognac” M-B tex and is hard to to tell from the photos if it is original or redone but does indeed look fresh and lovely.
The seller has ended the auction which usually means it has been sold it off eBay.
They do look like M-B factory wheels, but period-incorrect — I’d place them as W126 wheels. Needless to say, they have no business being on this car and detract from its otherwise fine looks.
