SOLD! Penny for your thoughts: ’74 Jensen Interceptor Convertible

74 jensen Interceptor

Let’s talk rare here for a moment. Jensen Motors introduced the convertible version of the Interceptor in 1974 and built 274 cars. Very few were painted in Copper Brown Metallic making today’s find even more rare. We have to confess we were not huge fans of the Interceptor Coupe with its ungainly, huge rear window, but the convertible looks great and the paint is absolutely perfect for it. So we are big fans of this car. 74 jensen InterceptorChrysler supplied the power for Jensens and in 1974 it is a 440ci V-8. Not huge horsepower at 375 but sufficient to push the big, luxo-GT along nicely. Because it was meant to be a GT cruiser, virtually all Interceptors were Torqueflite Automatics. Today’s find has a nice story. This Interceptor III Convertible has only 64,260 original miles.  It is a two owner California car – 15 years in an airplane hangar, more recently, after engine rebuild some 2500 miles ago, stored in Beverly Hills garage for last 4-years.  So it really needs a custodian that will finally drive the darn thing. It is not the top dog among hybrid* investors but Jensen Interceptors do have a following. This one is an auction and I would encourage someone who wants an exotic yet easy to maintain (at least the drivetrain) GT car to give this one a look.
