Summer Fun: ’67 Citroen 2CV Charleston
The Germans had The People’s Car and the French had the Toute Petite Voiture. Both survive to this day albeit in somewhat modernized form. The first prototypes of the Petite Voiture were ready in 1938 but WW II got in the way of just about everything French. We had to wait until the Paris Auto Salon in 1948 for the public introduction. Now dubbed the 2CV for 2 horses – the funny scale for power the French used back then. The 2CV went on to be a French staple. Today’s Summer Fun is a ’67 2CV (not sure if it is a ’67). In this case, we mean summer project equals summer fun. Maybe not the most exciting project you can find but if you have ever wanted one and are a little bit handy, we think this one will clean up nicely. It hasn’t run in a few years and has one flat tire but the seller is motivated. If you live near Rapid City or in this case not-so-Rapid City, you should have a look. The paint looks like it can come back to life and the interior doesn’t look that bad. The 2CV engines are pretty simple and shouldn’t cost a bundle if you have to go through it. If you want a bonding project with your son or daughter or perhaps the grand versions of both, this is a simple car to tackle. Asking $9500 but states that they are motivated. Hey, Isn’t this the car that Kurt drove (or at least had parked at Mel’s) in the movie American Graffiti? A perfect car for a soon to be “writer living in Canada”
