Candidate: ’59 Porsche 356A Coupe
The big question here is what do you do with this A Coupe? We know what we would do. We would get it running and handling perfectly, make sure everything works great, update the lighting as per Daniel Stern Lighting Consultant and then drive the heck out of it. Then, when A Coupes are totally off the valuation charts, we would do the cosmetics inside and out. The Certificate of Authenticity states this is a Silver Metallic car with Red Vinyl interior. That readers, is very cool. Most Silver Met Porsches were clad in black interiors like the non-original black interior it has installed currently. But it is presentable as is. Therefore the asking price of $42,000 isn’t totally off the charts and the seller is negotiable. We think you can buy this one in the high $30s. According to the Sports Car Market Guide, A Coupes are on fire. Last year, they increased in value 27% and they are still rated a B-grade with 5 stars. They state concours ready cars at $75,000 but we think they are way low. This car is saddled with a discount caused by the non-original engine. Paint it, replace the interior or leave it be. You’ll have a great car for events and tours regardless. Just don’t show anyone the C of A. Click here for the Rennlist ad.
