Leno-like: ’63 Ford Falcon Sprint V-8
If you have ever been on Jay Leno’s Garage website, we encourage you to do so. Jay is one of the most well known car collectors and all-around nice guy. Jay, a true enthusiast, drives his cars, allegedly a different one every day. I can’t say that we have exactly the same taste in cars but we do intersect in a few areas. Jay purchased a car featured by our friends at Bring-A-Trailer a few years ago. It was a ’63 Ford Falcon Sprint Rally Car Clone – sort of. At least that is what we remember it to be. It was white, had a tweaked V-8, a 4-speed Toploader and a great set of American Torque Thrust wheels. It looked very much like the cars Ford campaigned in Europe as part of their Total Performance marketing campaign. Today’s featured car could provide some enterprising reader with a similar opportunity. It is a white Sprint with a factory 260ci V-8. The only hitch currently is the automatic transmission. But when you yank out the 260ci for a 289 Hi-Po with solid lifters you can add a pedal and put in a toploader. The rest will be easy. Remember, you are starting with an original 53,000 mile car with documents. And it is from New Jersey which is sort of funny all by itself. It is an auction, so you have to be patient. Click here to watch and bid. We’ll warn you upfront – the pictures are awful.
Well, let’s see. Jay bought his car completely done for, IIRC, about $25,000. This one has a long way to go to be as nice and the seller wants to open it at $15,000. I think he’s been watching too much YouTube.
