Solid: ’79 Porsche 911 Coupe
We like our cars simple and uncomplicated. Perhaps that is why we prefer older cars to new. We think almost every new car must have at least a dozen computers in it just so it can do the same thing a Model T did back in the day. Okay, so a Model T isn’t the best comparison. Yes, cars are cleaner, safer, more fuel-efficient and faster but not necessarily more engaging. My god, Ferrari doesn’t even make a fully manual transmission anymore. Guess if we preferred new to old we would be doing road tests of new cars complete with boring EPA, NHTSA and IIHS ratings. So along comes a perfect candidate for boredom relief – a ’79 Porsche 911 Coupe with a Sunroof and A/C. It has 67,000 miles, crank windows, Fog Light delete panel and looks just right. It is adorned in Grand Prix white with black interior. We even like the classic cookie cutter wheels. Just a totally simple example of what we think is one of the best years for a later “early” 911. Now it would be good to see a maintenance history to determine if any of the engine updates available have been performed. It just looks right and worth further investigation. It is on the Samba but also eBay. You can get to the auction by clicking here.
Just because the new Porsche is capable of a 0-60 mph time in probably half or more then yours, yours probably feels faster 🙂
