Expo 67: ’74 Alfa Romeo Montreal
The Montreal was an outrageous show car replete with louvers and NACA ducts that sported a tone-down version of an Alfa racing V-8. That show car was penned by Marcello Gandini who also designed the Lamborghini Miura, Countach and that absolutely crazy-cool Lancia Stratos. It debuted in 1967 and was first seen at Expo ’67 held in Montreal, Canada, hence the name. The Montreal was never imported to the USA but since they are now old, classic sports cars, they can come ashore without much drama. This 1974 Silver and white car came by way of a long-term owner in France. We have featured a few Montreals here on Mint. The last one was in Spain and that is good for our European readers. This one is here in the States. There aren’t too many experts here that can keep one of these running strong so it would be good to do your research before you consider owning a Montreal. This one hails from Georgia. We think Montreals present a nice potential upside in valuation in years to come. The great styling, willing Alfa Romeo V-8 and only 4,000 built add up. Hagerty is more aggressive on pricing than the Sports Car Market Price Guide. Top Montreals are valued at $78,000 in Hagerty with #2 cars in the high $50,000 range. The seller is asking $60,000 and we can’t say anything other than it is a decent place to start. A thorough PPI is essential. You can contact the seller by clicking here.
