Found at Lime Rock Park Race Track: ’60 MGA Racer

1960 MGA

What’s not to love about this MGA. It has been at least 4 different colors and it is originally Old English White. If you stripped off the paint it would probably shed 50 pounds. The car has just been unearthed by our friends at Oxford Motor Cars and it is oozing with patina and has some interesting provenance. The MGA came from a garage racer who campaigned a few MGA Twin-Cams. When each Twin-Cam broke they put the good stuff on this 1600. Read More

31st Historics at Lime Rock Park

Falls Village Pano Sepia

We participated in the kick-off parade for the 31st Historic Racing weekend at Lime Rock. About 100 sports and racing cars drove the 17-mile loop beginning on the Sam Posey Straight, winding through the bucolic small towns and beautiful country roads lined with spectators, ending in the small town of Falls Village. It was great fun.

The parking areas at the historic races are usually rich in interesting cars available for sale. So we’ll keep our eye out and post them for sure.Green XK120

Near New Nero: 2010 Ferrari 458 Italia

2010 ferrari 458 ItaliaWe don’t feature newer classics to be often but we came across this 458 Ferrari and it spoke to us loud and clear. Probably because if we were to order a new Ferrari we would probably order it the same way. This one is in almost new condition and still being serviced by the original selling dealer.  The original price was $276,000 and it is offered now for $239,000. Not a bad discount.  It has covered only 6,000 miles with a Factory Warranty until almost 2015. Read More

The Historics at Lime Rock Park

LRP 2013

We are excited because today begins an exciting weekend when historic racing returns to Lime Rock Park. Tomorrow evening we will be part of the opening Parade of Pre-1970 cars that will be part of the weekend activities. Since we have been accepted to be in the Sunday Concours in our Mint Mercedes 230S, we get to participate in the Parade driving through the bucolic small towns of the Northwest Corner of Connecticut. We encourage any reader with intention to go to the races, to visit with us on Sunday. We are Class 19 at the very end of the Sam Posey Straight. Vroom!

Still available: ’60 Austin-Healey 3000 MK I

Austin-Healey 3000 MK I

We spotted this back in July and it cropped up again on Craigslist. We still think it looks worthy of some additional attention. Unless of course one of our readers has seen it and it is a fright pig!

We like Big Healeys very much. They call them Big Healeys because they replaced the smaller 100-4. What else could they call it? The first attempt at the 6-cylinder car was the 100-6. Of all Healeys, big & small, it is our least favorite. That doesn’t mean we wouldn’t buy one if a really special one came along. In 1959, the twin SU carb 3000 MK I debuted and it was a much better engine. Read More
