Sideways: ’64 Datsun Fairlady
We really love these little Datsun Fairladys aka the SPL310. They were the first true Datsun sports car was also known as the Datsun 1500. The SP310 was based on a modified sedan platform and an 85 HP dual carb engine. A four-speed transmission with non-synchro first gear was the only one available. This is among the first SPL310s in the US making it somewhat unique when compared to others we have featured. One really cool identifier for these early cars is a sideways positioned 3rd seat. Only available in 1963 and 1964. This car is totally unmolested and it has had few owners. The paint is in the original color and is said to be holding up well after 16 years. The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner but the seller does not state how long ago. These aren’t expensive cars and we consider them a legitimate alternative to an early MGB or TR4. Expect to pay in the high teens for this really early and somewhat rare example. Click here for the eBay listing.
