Jersey Shore: ’60 Pontiac Catalina Convertible
We haven’t seen one of these big Catalina convertibles in quite some time. Not our favorite body style but it is so indicative of the cars of this period. They were big and sort of flashy. I can imagine what European visitors must have muttered to themselves when they got a look at our cars back in the day. We suspect they thought we were nuts and somewhat self-indulgent. Today’s Catalina caught our eye because you just don’t see them everyday. There’s that and the fact this car is almost totally original. The seller doesn’t state what isn’t but we suspect it is a body panel or two. Other than that, the interior and mechanicals are all as they were back in 1960. It has only 62,000 miles on it so if you are keen on visiting the Jersey Shore, you could probably drive it back home without much trouble. The seller is asking $34,900. Hagerty has these valued pretty high. A tired #3 car at $29,000 and a perfect #1 at $79,000. So the seller might be in the ballpark if everything else checks out. Click here to contact the seller.
