Q-Ship: ’63 Ford Galaxie 500XL
We might be missing something here or this could be a bargain, early pre-muscle car. Back in the day when NASCAR actually ran stock cars, the factories built special models to help cheat the wind. In Ford’s case, in 1963, they introduced the Sports Roof as a mid-year body style. Then they offered a series of killer engines like the scary-fast R-Code. Today’s find is a Q-Code and it is a notch below an R in power. But not by much. The seller seems to indicate it is a real Q-Code since he draws the distinction between the two and cites production figures that make the Q more rare than an R. We wish sellers would be more clear and help prevent folks like us from making incorrect assumptions. He does state it is set up as original from the factory. It has fresh paint and a new interior plus it has a 4-speed and a bench seat. Very NASCAR-like. So if it is real then it is a steal at $42,500. We have attached a Hagerty Price Guide Trend chart that has these selling for huge money. So pick up the phone and call if you ever wanted a pre-muscle car monster with roots in NASCAR.
