I So Love This: ’68 Iso Grifo
Since the beginning of the existence of the sports car and the emergence of the American market for them, there have been American powered hybrids. Some of our favorites are the Nash-Healey LeMans, Ghia 450SS, Dual-Ghia, and one might say the Vignale-bodied Cunningham, although the Cunningham is an American car with an Italian body. But our real favorites are the cars from Iso. Specifically the Rivolta and the Grifo and not the Fidia, in our humble opinion. The Grifo is the real deal and we found one for our readers to seriously consider. Mind you this one does not have the original Chevy V-8 it was born with but it does have a Chevy V-8. Somehow that isn’t as much of a crime as a mis-matched engine in a Ferrari. Other than that, this is a well-documented ’68 with a factory 4-speed and A/C. Only 413 were made and this one has a scant 78,000 miles. The seller states it is in perfect running order and great for long distance cruises. And you will be welcome at any event that accepts cars from this vintage. So the Mille Miglia is out but the California Mille is in. The asking price is $260,000 and we think it a little rich considering the engine swap but the market is strong for this car.
