Lights: ’72 Alfa-Romeo GTV
We couldn’t resist featuring this GTV when it popped into our mailbox this morning. First, we are big fans of the Alfa GTV. In fact, it is probably one of our favorite cars of all time. If you haven’t had the pleasure of this compact styled, comfortable interior, supple ride with go-kart handling then you really owe it to yourself to try it on for size. It fits like a well-worn Gucci loafer and the sound the engine makes is pure listening pleasure. 
This ’72 is in a great color called Amaranth and we believe it is original to this car. It has been refinished to a decent standard. The interior is exceptional although the front seats are sort of owner’s choice and they selected a unique but suitable cut/sew pattern. We love additional driving lights but this Alfa may have gone a little too far. We like it but don’t be turned off by them if you don’t like them. It is an easy fix although there are holes to fill in. We wonder if the owner upgraded the electrical system to cope with the load the lights will put on. A good question to ask. The ebay auction listing has photos of the chassis and it looks as clean as the top. The engine retains the SPICA injection system and we like that too. Too many owners give up on the SPICA in favor of Webers. The SPICA is expensive to rebuild but once set up performs nicely. We are not informed specifically of the condition of the transmission. Second gear synchros are notoriously weak. If the synchros are fine that is a plus. If second gear is a little slow, you know you’re driving an Alfa. I don’t know what this one might sell for. Top cars can go for close to $30,000. A careful inspection will determine if this is one of them. Click here for the ebay auction.
