Winter project: ’64 Jaguar Mark 2, 4-speed
Okay, we know. When is an old, neglected Jaguar solely a winter project? And why a Jaguar sedan and not a Coupe or Roadster? We featured the luxury big brother to this MK II, the Mark IX, yesterday. But we really like old sedans with manual transmissions for their elegance combined with a sporting nature. They are great event cars, particularly when the weather doesn’t cooperate. So this Jaguar has needs but it does appear to have good bones. We would bring the interior up to snuff although noo a concours level. Just nice and functional so we could add what we need for some serious outdoor fun. The engine needs attention but we hope the seller is correct by saying it runs strong. The gearbox has the desirable overdrive that works. It needs some work on the electrical system as it is not charging at the time of sale. Why are we not surprised? It does have the desirable wire wheels although disc wheels would be smarter if any serious rallies are in its future. This sounds like a Jaguar you can buy for under $10,000 but who knows.
