Repeat sale: ’65 Ford Mustang Coupe
The original owner ordered today’s featured Mustang from Phil Long Ford in Littleton, Colorado in August 1964. Fast forward to today and 101,315 miles later it is for sale again at Phil Long Ford. It has had only that one owner and it comes with some of the most complete documentation any car could have. This isn’t the fastest most valuable model, the Hi-Po or K-code, but it is the next best thing – an A-code, 289 4-barrel. According to the window sticker, that A-code option is $162.00 ($108 for the 289 2-barrel + $54 for the A-code) and the vinyl roof costs $75.80. Sounds like the A-code was the better deal. We wonder why the original owner opted for a 3-speed manual and not the 4-speed. That would make it a little more perfect. We rarely see the Silver Smoke Gray color but have fond memories of our own ’65 K-code Fastback. When we bought it, it had a color change from Silver Smoke to Poppy Red. Although we never saw it in that color, we wished it wasn’t red. So this one is tarted up a bit with the vinyl roof and wire wheel covers but that is what was great about the Mustang: you could have it your way. And although we typically object to the dealer tag on any car, it looks appropriate on this one. Click here to go to the eBay auction.
