Fun for four: ’65 Morgan Plus 4, 4 seater

65 Morgan

We admired a Morgan 4-seater while we were at Lime Rock Park Race Track today. It was a full race car with tartan plaid interior door panels – a tribute to the Scot who owns it. And then, like magic, one appears in our In Box later today. We restored a ’65 Morgan Plus 4 so we think we know these cars pretty well. This is a nicely done sports car that was treated properly in the restoration. Many of these Morgans get all dolled up and they lose the hand-made look a Morgan should have. Read More

A two owner example: ’53 Nash Healey Roadster

53 Nash healey

Donald Healey and Nash-Kelvinator CEO George Mason met on the Queen Elisabeth, going from the United States to Great Britain. Healey was returning to England after his attempt to purchase engines from Cadillac, but GM declined his idea. Mason and Healey met over dinner and a production plan ensued during the remainder of the voyage.A prototype was built shortly after an agreement was reached, and the resulting Nash-Healey hit the track. Almost out of the box, the Nash-Healey finished fourth at Le Mans. The string of racing success didn’t help sales mostly because of the complicated production sequence that had the unfinished car traveling almost 8,000 miles between various assembly plants. The best finish the Nash-Healey had been in ’53 when the newly designed Coupe finished 3rd overall behind 2 Gullwings. Today’s beautiful Nash-Healey is represented by Fantasy Junction.  Read More

One of the last: ’75 Alfa Romeo GTV

1975 Alfa Romeo GTV

We know there aren’t any ’75 GTV 2000s but according to Alfa Romeo Storica, this one was built in June 1975 for the USA Market. We know it doesn’t make sense. Alfa Romeo made ’75 GTV 2000s for the European market sporting Dellorto carbs instead of the SPICA system. So we thought this might be a Euro car imported. But you can’t argue with Marco Fazio at Alfa telling us it is a USA market car. The seller says it is in concours condition although further down in the listing he states the paint isn’t. But who cares. This is a great driving car and concours is not really a dynamic activity anyway. You want to drive this one in events or just out for a fun ride. The color combination is a pleasant relief from the more common red or silver. Read More
