Dad’s Jag: ’67 Jaguar XKE OTS
You have to be pretty careful when you buy a Jaguar XKE. These cars are like sirens calling you from the sea or something like that. You tend to get caught up on what it is like to own one while you should be doing your homework. These Jags are great cars but very expensive to restore or make right. It is good to know the ownership history too. Today’s featured Jaguar has been in the same family for 25 years. The seller doesn’t say much about where it came from other than it is a San Diego car all of its life. That’s a good thing. The seller’s father owned the car and the son was a British car repair shop owner so the car has been well cared for. Recent work include new shocks, calipers, re-sealed differential, fuel pump, brake master and a few other things. It looks nice cosmetically too with only one repaint in the original color. The interior is original too and in good condition. Another plus is a factory hardtop in black. A very handsome option although we suspect they get little use these days. Prices for early Jaguars are on a near vertical trajectory. #4 drivers at $40 to $50 grand all the way up to $170,000 for trailer queens. Only a close inspection will tell you where on the chart this one should be. Click here for the eBay auction.
