Secret Service: ’64 Land Rover Series 2A
We all know how difficult it is to judge a car from a photograph or two. But sometimes, and we mean sometimes, the image of a car just speaks to you. Usually if it triggers an emotion, it is worth a closer look. Most of the time it leads you down a trail to certain disappointment. But this is the business that we have chosen for ourselves so we endure and keep looking. Now we are sure you hope all of this editorial eloquence would lead you to some rare Alfa in spectacular original condition. But alas, it is a Landie Series II A with 42,000 miles and in impeccable condition. We love Land Rovers so we aren’t disappointed. This ’68 has just the right level of patina and comes fully dressed in pale green with canvas weather gear. They all look original to us. The seller tells us of an interesting history about this Landie. It is laden with references to Secret Service agents and leaders of the free world. That makes this one a Land Rover to further explore even if one wasn’t on your radar screen. One day you will wake up and say, “you know what? I want a vintage Land Rover like I saw on Mint2Me.” Sadly it will be gone and you’ll spend the next few years looking for another. Click here for the auction or wire $27,500 to the seller. Just make sure it isn’t to a bank in Namibia or someplace weird. Click here for the eBay auction.
