Show winner: ’58 Volvo 444 Duett
We’ve had a few Duetts here on Mint and they always seem to get a good response. By that I mean, they sell. This is a very early car for a US specimen as it is a 444 with a split windscreen. We read so many ads each day that we wonder what people are really thinking when the write this stuff. This seller, in his excitement, states it is one of a kind. Well we wonder what the heck he means by that. We’ve seen others like this one perhaps not necessarily in this condition. Then again, there might be one better than this. It is a show winner but from what show? Was it a local car show where there were only 3 Swedish cars? If you are going to boast, give us details. If it won its class at a national Volvo Club event, then that’s news. A totally restored Volvo is probably one of the most reliable classics you could drive every day. The seller says it was once that relied upon. But lately, it is a garage queen. So it might need a little of this and a little of that to get back into shape. We think $22,000 is way too much for this one. Unless you need a station wagon, we would look for a great sedan or an 1800 for less money. Duetts are rare here but in this case, rare doesn’t mean more fun. Click here for the eBay auction.
I, too, wonder what people are thinking when “the right” (they write?) this stuff. C’mon, guys, I think you could occasionally use the services of a car-enthusiast proofreader.
Who needs a proofreader when we have you. Thanks Steve!
