Dirty Bird: ’64 Ford Falcon Historic Drag Racer
This isn’t just any old drag racer, it is The Termite. Now if that doesn’t strike fear in the hearts of those or us who live in wood houses, we don’t know what will. This is a racer that qualifies for any historic racing events but it is best suited for events that go in a straight line and don’t last too long. So don’t expect to see it in Monterey next August or Lime Rock in the Fall. Not only is this Ford Falcon a drag racer, it is a world record holder. We aren’t sure what record that is. Perhaps it is the record for cars named Termite. What is unusual about this one is that it retains the original block and in fact, the entire drivetrain. Remarkable considering it competes in drag racing. The car just looks cool with all of the original body panels intact and all of the original lettering. That done by someone named McCoy whose name carries some weight in the drag racing lettering world. We would love to own a rare car like this and bring it to Lime Rock or Watkins Glen and then ask them for permission to do demonstration runs down the longest straight. All while America the Beautiful is playing. How patriotic. Drag racing is uniquely American. At $28,500 it will be one of the least expensive racers there. Click here for the listing.
