Bad Ass: ’54 Porsche 356A Competition
As a member of the VSCCA and because of our close proximity to Lime Rock Park Race Track, we get to see quite a few 356 Comp cars. They are all pretty terrific and one might say, they are right at home and definitely where they belong when they scoot by on the track. But esthetically, some are just way cooler than others. That doesn’t mean they are faster or the driver is more skilled, it means the owner cares about what things look like too. All of the architects we know are like that. Every decision is based on what it looks like and does it contribute to the overall success of the project. So when we spotted this 356A Competition car we stopped in our tracks. Besides being beautifully built and successfully campaigned, it is totally bad ass. This one has been competing for over 19 years. It was built by a well-known shop, Meisterwerks, in Minneapolis. The owner recently passed away and left the racer to his son. The racer was built to be a safe and reliable car that would last a lifetime with proper care. It has a 1600cc engine producing 115hp, disc brakes all around, safety fire system, fuel cell, and full roll cage. This isn’t inexpensive and there are less expensive ways to begin vintage racing. In fact, if you are just starting out, the Porsche will be cooler than you are. But we are sure you’ll catch up with a few victories under your belt. The asking price is $66,500.
