Your wish: ’89 Porsche 930S Flachbau Cabriolet
When we see a Porsche as unique as this one appear on eBay, we are always a bit skeptical. First, let us tell you why this one is special. It is a 930S Cabriolet and that is special all by itself. That means it is a Turbo and they didn’t make that many Turbo Cabs. But this one has the Flachbau option (M505) available through the Sonderwunschprogramm. We could be nasty and not tell you what that means but we are friends so here it is. Sonderwunschprogramm means Special Wishes Program. That is where your order goes when you specify something special like a Humidor or paint to match your lipstick. Flachbau means Slantnose and it is a unique front end design that emulates the front of the 935 race cars. In addition to the slanty nose, the body received a full aero treatment with wider sills and huge air intakes ahead of the rear wheels. Now the design became very popular with custom shops who made their own versions out of fiberglass. The listing does not state that this is factory but the interior with contrasting piping and the special Pearl White paint treatment makes us think this could be a Sunderwunschprogramm 930S. The listing tells us that this car is up to date with its service and has everything in good working order. Besides this looking Miami Vice cool, it should also fly. It is a 930S Turbo after all. Most Turbos are 4-speeds but this is a G50 5-speed and that commands a premium too. What do we think it will sell for? Sports Car Market doesn’t have a price for a slantnose Turbo Cabriolet but the Coupes would go for $40,000 to $45,000. Perhaps this one, because of its unique features (if they are factory), might go for $50,000 or more. Click here for the eBay listing.
