T Type: MG T Midget
We don’t know if it is politically correct but this car is actually called a T Type Midget or a TA. The T replaced the PB and like many American cars of the 50s and 60s, they were proud to announce it was longer and wider than the car that preceded it. But it was still a Midget. The T didn’t get the TA name until the TB was introduced so when this was available in ’37 it was primarily referred to as a T Type Midget. It is powered by a potent 50hp 1292cc inline-4 with twin SU carbs. This made the Midget capable of 80 thrilling MPH. The TA had a production run of 3000 units before the TB was introduced in ’39. Production ceased after 392 units because of the outbreak of WW II. Today’s TA is owned by the same gentleman for over 40 years. It has been stored for some time in a climate friendly garage. It was restored 25 years ago and therefore has some well-earned patina everywhere. But nothing looks too bad so why not get it sorted and start driving it. We don’t know if everything is included like a full complement of weather gear, so it is worth a phone call to the seller. These can get a little pricey according to the SCM Price Guide. They give it a range of $40 to $70 grand with a B rating! Click here for the eBay listing.
