The Bigger The Better: ’68 Plymouth GTX 440
The listings at Mint are sometimes biased and feature cars with interest but maybe a little short on cubic inches. We decided to look at some muscle. Muscle was big in the ’60 and part of the ’70s. Then we entered a dark period when muscle cars atrophied and squeegee window washing derelicts ruled the street corners of New York. Every manufacturer produced a compelling roster of hot cars. Even AMC got into the act with 390 Go Packs and 4-speeds. Plymouth was particularly prolific offering the legendary Hemi engine and the 440. Today’s featured muscle is a really nicely kept GTX 440. It is numbers matching with 2 broadcast sheets so there is no disputing its originality. It has a 4-speed with a Dana SureGrip, period correct Redlines and get this – original paint. The asking price is a steep $45,000 but it isn’t too steep to pass on. After all, originality and provenance trumps all if the condition is good. Click here to contact the seller.
