Come in Rangoon: ’65 Ford Mustang Fastback K-Code
Of all the Mustangs built during the first 3 years of production, the cars equipped with the K-Code optional engine are the most important. The K-Code is a 289, solid-lifter V8 producing a nice 271hp. It was first deployed in the lowly Fairlane in 1963 but became the top engine choice of the early Mustangs. It was an expensive option and since it was only available with the 4-speed manual and a 90-day warranty, it had a real niche audience. So of all the early Mustangs, the K-Code is the most rare. We stumbled across this Fastback ’65 on eBay and it looks pretty nice having just emerged from a complete restoration. But like every real K-Code, it has a 4-speed, disc brakes, 9″ rear and quicker steering. There are lots of little things to help identify a real “K” from a clone. Look into it if you ever get serious about buying one. This Rangoon Red car has a dealer installed 3 deuce carb set-up which is pretty neat. We like the wheel selection too. American Torque Thrusts look just right on these. We really like these cars in Coupe or Fastback form. You have to own one to understand why. We had one similar to the featured car and we regret parting with it more than any other car. Click here to contact the seller.
