Gas Wagon: ’85 Mercedes-Benz 280TE
If you are one of the legions of fans of the W123 semi-indestructible wagons, you will recognize this one. Except it isn’t an oil burner, it runs on gas. That is unusual here because Mercedes decided to pass on federalizing this version for the US market. But it is cool and since it is old now, you can enjoy it in the States. The guys at Mercedes Motoring are dialed in to the W123 market and seem to come up with the best in the world and priced accordingly. We recently read yet another article written about them in a national publication. They have Kardashian-level PR people we are sure.Today’s featured longroof is finished in Ascot Gray with a cloth/MB-Tex interior. Since it is cool, it has a 5-speed transmission instead of the 4-speed automatic in the Diesels. But unlike some of the Euro strippers we have seen, this one has a sunroof and electric windows and A/C. All we imagine, work properly. It has been in the care of only 2 previous owners before the Mercedes Motoring treatment. This featured car is on their website and that is chock full of neat videos designed to make you feel comfortable spending twice what others spend on cars like this. But those others are not immaculately prepared both cosmetically and mechanically. There is no price in the listing necessitating a phone call. Except it to be close to $30 grand.
