Another Winter’s Tale: ’58 Austin-Healey 100-6, 2-seater
We’ve had a few 100-6 Healeys before but this our first 2-seater. That makes it a little bit cooler than the 2+ occasional 2 that is the majority of the Big Healey production. The 100-6 however is not the darling of the Big Healey world but Healey addicts have come to accept them as equals. This one is finished in Primrose with black interior and has the optional Overdrive. It has been sitting for some time so the brakes are dragging and the Healey pops out of reverse. It looks a bit natty and the newish interior looks out of place and incorrect. However, the car has good, strong California bones so it could be a good candidate for a tasteful rebuild. Healey prices have stabilized yet the Kurt Tanner fresh restorations still go for huge money. A Big Healey doesn’t need that level of restoration to be a kick. So budget a mechanical refresh, detail the engine compartment yourself and have it painted after you fall in love with it. Fantasy Garage is asking $45,000. That is a bit rich for a 100-6 in this condition but if you want, give them a call. It is the holiday season. Click here for the listing.
