Alternative Pony: ’67 Mercury Cougar
We watched an episode of a TV show dedicated to discussing the top 10 pony/muscle car bargains with appreciation potential. Well, we weren’t surprised when Mustang’s stablemate, the Mercury Cougar, made the list. Frankly, we like Cougars but don’t often see them set up the way we like out pony cars– V8 with a manual floor shift. Bam! This one popped into our inbox. This Cougar is special because it is all original including paint and interior. Plus it has a 289ci V8, a 3-speed floor shift and air-conditioning. Cougars are a bit more luxurious than the Mustang and rarely so equipped as this featured car so this presents an opportunity for the shrewd pony car buyer/collector. The Cougar is a California car that has spent a considerable amount of time in a barn and is rust free according to the seller. The seller is asking $16,900. Hagerty says that will get you a #3 car and this looks better than that. Click here for the listing.
