1 of 704: ’61 Alfa Romeo Sprint 2000
The Bertone 2-door Sprint like this wonderful AlfaBB find, was styled by the brilliant Giorgetto Giugiaro when he was a young designer. When you look at it, it really fostered so many future styling themes that Giugiaro continued throughout this time period ending in the 1970s. For those of us who are Alfisti, we think this should be an unloved Sprint 2600 but alas, you would be wrong. This body style was originally a 2000cc 4-cylinder powered car. They built only 704 according to the seller and his is even more rare because it has a sunroof. The year following this model, the body got a 6-cylinder transplant and became known as the 2600 Sprint. We love the 2600 Sprint but they seem to be overlooked by many Alfisti but we sense that is changing. For a while, no one wanted a Sprint Speciale either. This one is perfectly sorted and just beautiful. It is the seller’s daily driver in London (should have told you earlier a plane ticket/passport is necessary for inspection) and speaks volumes about reliability. There are no auction comps to help you weigh whether or not this is going to be a good buy. But a rare Alfa in a beautiful suit like this Bertone can’t be ignored forever.
