Way back: ’78 Ford LTD Station Wagon
Most of us have fond memories of riding in the back of a big American station wagon. It was fun in a weird sort of way. Today’s wagons, save for a few, have given way to the minivan. A smart decision from a packaging viewpoint but the magic was gone. Some of the older station wagons have real collector value and others are just fun and perhaps useful. Today’s find is the later. It is a fairly gigantic LTD wagon in very good condition. It could serve the next owner as a daily driver or better yet, as an interesting tow vehicle for a vintage travel trailer or race car. It is equipped with a 351ci V8 and an automatic. The rest of the car is simple with crank windows, no power door locks and A/C (needs attention). The seller tells us it is a great highway cruiser with no bad behavior exhibited. Also says it is a hit a local car shows. By the way, it is mostly original paint and interior and that makes it a bit special. The bottom needs a days work with a wire brush and some rust encapsulator from Eastwood. After you are done with that and a few odds and ends, head for the hills. Click here for the listing.
Had one of these back in the early 80’s. Drove to the Runoffs at Road Atlanta from Pennsylvania with friends. It was so wide we set up a Trivial Pursuit Game between us on the front seat armrests and played all the way to Atlanta. Set the cruise control at 75 and relax. Just don’t try to change heading quickly.
Hey, someone fooled me and pointed me in the wrong direction. I was trying to get to the Binz wagon……
