Headscratcher: ’63 Porsche 356B T6
We just don’t know enough about this 356B to guide our readers but we felt it is worth further investigation if you are interested in it. The seller says it is a matching number car in what we think is Smyrna Green. He does say the paint isn’t great but didn’t say if was original or a repaint. The interior looks workable but will probably need something depending on what you want to do with it. The seller says it needs a tune-up (why not do it) and a few other little things so it doesn’t sound half bad. He is asking a negotiable $44,000. That is probably high but again, we don’t have that much information to make an educated guess. If you live near Dallas, check it out. Click here for the listing.
I don.t see the Karmann tag on the outside it should be right before the front wheel i also cant see the back for the twin grills, it looks more like a 356 c
I think the color is too bright to be Irish green, although it’s difficult to distinguish colors on a computer screen. The hubcaps could have been changed many times over the years and are not a reliable indicator of engine type.
I’m fairly confident that this is what Porsche called ‘Irish green’ at the time, assuming that it is the period colour. Also it looks to be a ‘Normal’ (60 hp) – the hubcaps are the clue. The seats have been recovered at some point – they are missing the factory pleat. Could be a pearl, not enough information to tell though.
