Yet another roundie: ’71 BMW 2002
The roundie is more highly regarded than a squarey. Don’t you just love how car geeks refer to their favorite car models? In this case we agree. Roundie BMW 2002s have the smaller, pre-legislated 5-mph bumpers. They are just more attractive and lighter than the newer cars that debuted in ’74. Today’s featured roundie we hope is better than the orange car we featured a few weeks ago. That one was a disaster and we know because we went to look at for a reader (friend) of ours. This is a California car and the seller tells us it is totally rust free. Seem to remember the seller of the orange car saying the same thing. We aren’t huge fans of band-aid beige however in some cases, condition outranks color. This one has a sunroof and we remember whining about the fact that our ’69 2002 didn’t have one. So that is a nice addition and helps us get over the color a bit. It has 2 previous owners before the current seller. The engine has been rebuilt 10,000 miles ago so this one must be a reliable driver because it has gotten around quite a bit. The interior is nice – not perfect but nice and in the right color. It comes with a sweet Nardi wheel too. The standard wheel is included but we would opt to leave the Nardi in place. The asking price is $8500 and if you are in the area (Bill H., are you listening?), you should go look at this one and report back. Click here for the listing.
Seller gives his location as Wisconsin but is offering it on the Phoenix, AZ Craigslist? That’s the kind of fishiness I despise.
