El perfecto: ’66 Chevrolet El Camino
We like Rancheros and El Caminos. They are so Western – and practical too. Many of us have the need, every once it a while, to move something that won’t fit in a station wagon. For those rare occasions, why have a giant F150 or C10? You can have a mid-size car with all the room you need out back. They are very cool to look at too. This one, the seller states modestly, is perfect. They state, gaps, paint, electronics, drivetrain and interior as better than new. Probably way better than new. It is red but the rest of the El is very understated with dog-dish wheel covers and normal size rubber. It is powered by a tweaked 327 putting out a whopping 350 horses. It must sound amazing! A factory 4-speed transmission mounted were it belongs adds to the fun. The brakes have been upgraded to cope with the power so this is a well thought out build indeed. It is an auction with no Buy It Now, but our ace investigators think they want around $28,000 for it. Hard to duplicate it for that. You can probably get it for closer to the opening bid of $23,000.
