A-Code: ’65 Ford Mustang GT Fastback
If you visit the internet as much as we do (hopefully you don’t have to now that you have us), you will see a parking lot filled with vintage Mustangs. But we love them so how do you tell the crappy from the great? And let us begin to answer that by telling you there are a lot of crappy Mustangs out there. probably 80% of the cars out there are rattle can restorations on marginal cars. Therefore, like everything else, you have to buy the best there is and not the best you can afford. This one we found today looks like one of the best A-codes we’ve seen. The listing tells us it is an original 50,000 mile car in Poppy Red with black Pony Interior. So far so good. It is equipped with the Rally Pac, styled steel wheels, and factory GT Equipment. The best news is that it is an original factory A-code car with a 4-speed transmission. An A-code is a notch below a K-code. The A-code has a 289 V8 producing 225hp. You can make a lot more horsepower with this engine making it perform like a K-code should you desire. The Ks are the most valuable non-Shelby Mustang of this era (’65 & ’66). Today’s car is immaculate top, inside and bottom. Everything that came with the car is in working order so there are no “except the…” remarks at all in the listing. It is a wee bit pricey at $48,500 for a non K-code. If it were a K-code in this condition it would be $60,000 or more. Click here for the listing.
