Bone Stock: ’72 Toyota Celica ST
Sometimes a car will find its way onto Mint not because it is rare but because so few survive in fine condition. The Rambler American we featured today falls into that category. And now the Rambler has company with this really sweet Toyota Celica ST. The styling of the Celica has really held up over the years. This one has a few too many doo-dads on it like the dealer installed vinyl roof and side stripes but they were popular back then so we will give it a pass. The seller says it has 81,000 miles and it is a good, strong runner. It wears mostly original paint and interior. Again, remarkable for a Toyota from this era. This one is powered by the venerable Toyota 18R-C that powered a lot of Toyotas over the years. These transmissions are known to be a little notchy but wear well over time. There’s been lots of recent work so we consider this a turn-key example for the Japanese car collector set. Click here for the auction.
While this Celica has “a few too many doo-dads”, being a Gen 1 it’s fortunately ‘missing’ the added safety bumpers of the later generations.
