Name Change: ’84 Pininfarina Azzura Spider aka Fiat
Fiat decided to end their support of both the 124 Fiat Spider and the X1/9 here in the US. Well, they actually abandoned the market all together eventually. They handed off the production of the 124 Spider to Pininfarina and they renamed it the Azzura or Spider Europa across the pond. The X1/9 was handed off to Bertone too. The 124 Spider is a beautiful design for a moderately priced Italian sports car. We like the early cars mainly because of the pre-government bumpers. Truthfully, the 124’s federal mandated bumpers are nicer than almost all of the other sports car bumpers of the day. The Alfa Spiders for example aren’t too attractive at all. Now this one is somewhat special because it is in remarkable condition and it is an automatic. So this one will have limited appeal. But there is certainly a market for an Italian Spider with 2 pedals. The seller is asking $18,500. Click here for the listing.
