Decent: ’67 Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider
Italians spell it Spider and Germans Spyder. Go figure. We see literally dozens of Alfa or “Alpha” Romeo Spiders every day. And they are there, the same cars, day after day after day. And that is because so many Alfas that are for sale are junk. They should be recycled so that others may survive. Alfas are great cars when they are on their game. They are light and nimble and make great sounds. There are issues with Alfas. Rust seems to enjoy their taste and 2nd gear synchros can be a challenge. You can fix the gearbox, although most find a work-around, but the rust can present too much of a problem to be cost-effective. And that is the reason why you need to be careful when you look at an Alfa. You need to find one that you can fully understand what is going on behind the shiny paint. You want one as rust-free as possible. We don’t know much from the listing. What we can see from the pictures (don’t trust them) is that it is worth an initial phone call and then, maybe a PPI from someone who knows Alfas. This Alfa is priced at $22,500 and that is around what a condition #3 car is. And that is in fact what it might be. Click here for the listing.
