Last Exposed Headlight ‘Vette: ’62 Chevrolet Corvette
Corvettes have always been hugely popular used sports cars. They could be had relatively cheaply over the years and we’ll go out on a limb here and say a good portion of them have been monkeyed with to some degree. Getting them back in original condition isn’t easy and the expense is usually justified for ‘Vettes with some rarity. But every once in a while, a basic Corvette will surface in original condition. Better yet, one with a hard top too. This is a ’62 with some styling hints that will be seen on the revolutionary Sting Ray in ’63. And it will be the last year you will see a Corvette’s headlight until 2005. This is that car. It is a 327cid/250hp, 4-speed car with original paint and drivetrain. The original factory hardtop is in similar condition. The seller treated it to a mechanical refresh making it a decent runner to add to the allure. And we like the fact the Wonderbar radio is in operative condition. This is an eBay auction and frankly, trying to put a value on this one is daunting. We value original condition cars but without seeing it in person, it is challenging. All we can say is condition 2 cars can bring $70,000. Will collectors value this one higher is anyone’s guess.
