Pistol whipped: ’70 Dodge Challenger 340 6-Pack T/A
These cars were built for the Trans Am circuit, therefore a minimum number of vehicles had to be delivered with miles on them before Chrysler could race the T/As. Legend has it the factory had Chrysler employees drive many of the T/As to dealerships to meet this requirement. The T/A is one of our favorite muscle cars of the period. And although the R/T had the bigger engine, the T/A had balance. We are told that Dodge built less than 1,000 T/As with a 4-speed transmission like today’s featured car. That makes these very sought after by collectors and valuations reflect that. Hagerty has perfect cars selling close to $95,000. This one in Sassy Grassy Green sports mostly original paint and has that nifty pistol grip shifter. It is referred to in the listing as a totally original car with an owner history back to day one. We are told it is pretty much a turn-key driver priced liked a condition 2- example. That means the asking price of $67,700 isn’t too far off the mark. Click here for the listing.
