Seen on the street: ’86 TVR 280i

TVR reTVR 280i is a sports car designed and built by TVR from 1980 to 1988. It was available as a fixed head coupé, both as a 2-seater and as a 2+2, or as a 2-seater convertible. The 2.8-litre “Cologne” V6 producing 145hp (in US form) had already been certified for US sales, allowing TVR to return to the US market after a six year hiatus. The Tasmin was the last TVR to be exported to the USA, with the last car brought over in 1987, this being a series II 280i like today’s car on the street. TVR SALKEWe know nothing about this car other than it is a convertible with 30,000 original miles. And since it was seen in Carmel, California, perhaps it is a long time California resident. That’s good because some of the chassis bits are prone to rust. These little cars have some redeeming qualities like nimble handling and open air driving. The seller is asking $12,000 and it needs to be spot on with no needs to be worth that. Check out the for sale sign to contact the seller. Tell him you saw it on Google Earth. That will freak him out. We would like to give a shout out to reader Big Pete S. for the heads up. TVRfr
