Sleeper: ’59 Austin-Healey Sprite
We call them Bug Eyes here and Frog Eyes overseas but in either case they are a very cute yet competent sports car. There is no real reason to be a slave to originality if you are lucky enough to own a decent Sprite. We might take a different position if it were some original owner, barn find but if it is a driver Sprite, have it your way. The seller of this Sprite tells us that he is a Sprite aficionado of sorts having owned many over the years. He says this one is the best of all. We like the simplicity of this one. All of the bling is under the hood. It has had numerous upgrades to the engine and ancillary systems making this a sweet runner worthy of a roll bar. It also has a nifty 5-speed transmission upgrade courtesy of Rivergate. The front section is fiberglass and the rest of the body is factory correct. The listing has all of the details and we encourage you to read it. The only change we would make is losing the radio. Our thanks to Aaron in Syracuse for the heads up. Click here for the listing.
