Imagine: ’61 Jaguar Mark II 3.4
Okay, the seller lives in the midwest but he has owned this Jaguar for 25 years and it is in Apache Junction, Arizona. He’s done a lot of work on it and now wants to sell it. However the only pictures he has are pictures before he did any work and while it was in storage. Therefore this presents an opportunity for someone who really wants a nice solid Mark II with a 4-speed and a 3.4 liter engine. But the listing says 2.4 liter? Yes, we get that but the rear decklid clearly says 3.4. So unless that was changed let us hope it is a 3.4. What else can we say? We really like these Jaguar Saloons and they make potentially great event cars. They aren’t inexpensive to get right but what is except some American or Japanese iron. This one should have leather interior if it is a 3.4 but that could have been replaced long before the owner of 25 years bought the car. The seller wants $21,500 so he must have a very different opinion of the condition of the car than we do. That is why this presents an opportunity for someone who wants one and lives near or passing through Apache Junction. It is a textbook situation outlined in Classic Motorsports article on “How to Steal a Car”. Click here for the listing.
