Large Mouth: ’62 Triumph TR3A
The more we see one of these Triumphs the more we like them. We liked one enough back in ’71 to actually own it. It was our first car. Not our first sports car but our first car car. Well, ours was not quite the caliber of car this one is but ours was $400 from a shady guy in Brooklyn. Today’s featured TR3A is represented by one of California’s best-known dealers. They have a good eye for cars for sure.
We like the light blue exterior with clack interior piped in white per original specifications. It is somewhat restrained with painted wires and we like that. In addition to the cosmetic restoration, the entire drivetrain and brake system has been rebuilt. According to the SCM Price guide, a ’62 should be a TR3B and they made only 3,331 of those. So we will assume it is a TR3A registered as a ’62. They did things like that back in the day. A perfect car could be valued at $40,000. Let’s assume for argument’s sake this is a really nice driver therefore you might be able to get it for a bit less. Click here for the listing.
I see it sold for US $30K, to a buyer with 0, as in Zero, eBay activity, and his bid exceeded the previous $10K high bid….hmm, very interesting.
